Library : Brief description of Library & facilities available

The College library is situated inside the “Academic Building” at ground floor beside Dean Office. At present, the library holds about 5000 print books, and 500 Practical Manuals. Apart from this, the college can also access all ONOS online e-journals and other e-databases subscribed by Nehru Library, IGKV Raipur through Remote-Login access. CARS Library Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) provides access to the catalogue of library resources. Internet facility is available in four computers of library, and students also use Computer Lab. for consulting eBooks, e-Journals and other e-Resources. College library has seating capacity of 40 students at a time, which is always extendible. College Library is automated and all books are barcoded, entered in Library Database (KOHA Open source software) and accessible in the whole college campus through OPAC. All books on the shelves are classified according to the code “Universal Decimal Classification” as well as arranged on the shelves in subject wise manner.

The library houses 5000 printed books which covers different sub-areas of Agricultural Science Agronomy, Horticulture , Plant Breeding, Soil science, Agricultural Engineering, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Agricultural Engineering, Statistics, Microbiology, Weed Science, Meteorology, Biotechnology, Organic Farming , etc. It includes textbooks, reference books, reports, etc. and new books are being added regularly.

E-Books: We are accessing 2942 E-books through Remote Login Access of Nehru Library, IGKV Raipur with Knimbus Login and all students and staff are registered in Knimbus with their Email ID: https://igkv.knimbus.com

Manuals: The library has 500 manuals related with agricultural subjects.

Journals: Students and Teachers are accessing unlimited open accesse-journals through ONOS (One Nation One Subscription) Knimbus Login.

Theses & Institutional Repository: We can also access our Institutional repository "Krishikosh" at University website, and get access to whole University publications.

Free/Open source resources: More than 100 journals can be accessed free, list and links are available at ICAR Library website: [Source: https://lib.icar.gov.in/Open_Access_Journal.html] and also through DOAJ.

Apart from these, other informative websites are: Krishikosh, Directory of Open Access Journals, Directory of Open Access Books, Directory of Open Access Repositories, Krishi Gyan Portal, National Digital Library of India, Shodhganga, e-gyankosh, ICAR and NPTEL.

Opening hours of library are 10.00 AM– 5.30 PM in all working days. Membership Privilege: All the students, faculty members and employees of the Institute can register themselves for the membership of the Library. Roll No. of students and MIS No. of staff are treated as Library ID. Borrowing privilege according to member category is as follows:

Faculty – 5 books for 90 days
Students- 3 books for 30 days
Part Time Teachers-5 Books for 30 days

Open Access- All shelves are open in library to all its users, i.e. one can go to the shelf, search the books, which are already arranged in a classified order, select it, read it, and get issue.

Reading Service -We have arranged 07 Reading Tables and 40 Chairs for comfortable library reading inside library. Students can sit, discuss and prepare their assignments with use of more books inside the library.

Photocopy Service—Photocopy Service is available in library for students only. Photocopy is restricted to A4 size only and cost is Rs.2 per single exposure.
